Director, Design – Data Centre Projects (Singapore HQ)

About the Role
A leading global data centre operator is seeking a dynamic Director of Design to lead and scale its regional design operations across Asia Pacific. Based in Singapore, this senior leadership role reports to the VP of Product and Design and is responsible for setting strategic direction, driving innovation, and ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple project sites.

You will oversee a regional team of design professionals, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and play a pivotal role in shaping cutting-edge infrastructure solutions aligned with customer expectations and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the regional design function
• Manage and mentor a high-performing team across Singapore, Johor Bahru, and emerging regional locations
• Guide design consultants and internal teams throughout all phases of design and development
• Partner with internal departments (Development, Commissioning, Operations) to align designs with operational objectives
• Represent the design team in engagements with customers, suppliers, and external partners
• Ensure all design outputs meet rigorous quality and compliance standards
• Oversee the integration of directly procured equipment into overall design solutions
• Set sustainability goals and champion environmentally responsible design practices
• Develop and drive region-specific engineering strategies and innovation roadmaps
• Evaluate the commercial impact of engineering and design decisions
• Lead internal knowledge-sharing initiatives and contribute to technical strategy
• Support team planning, capability development, and scalable process improvements

What You Bring

• Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary design or engineering teams in complex infrastructure environments
• Experience managing the delivery of large-scale data centre projects across Asia Pacific
• Strong understanding of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) design principles, with familiarity in Civil, Structural, and Architectural disciplines
• Prior exposure to hyperscale and cloud infrastructure environments is highly desirable
• Clear and confident communicator with the ability to present technical content to senior stakeholders and clients
• A collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-moving, agile environment
• Strong commercial awareness with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach
